Dear STC Student Chapter Faculty Advisors -

At the end of each fiscal year, your chapter must file a Student Chapter Financial Report Form with the Society office in accordance with Article IX, Sec. 3B and 4E of the Bylaws.  Although the Bylaws specify that the report should be made to the Society Treasurer, that responsibility has been delegated to the Society office.  The Society office reviews your report for accuracy, and, if approved, a dues rebate will be issued to your chapter.

The student chapters’ modified fiscal year is May 1 through April 30.  The purpose of this modified fiscal year is to enable the student treasurer to prepare the financial report in May and send it to the Society office before he or she leaves school.

The Society office issues student chapter checks in September.  In August, you will receive a memo asking you to inform the Society office who the check should be sent to and the appropriate mailing address.  Your dues rebate for this year is based on your chapter’s membership as of June 30, 2007.  The exact amount will be determined at that time.

To qualify for a rebate, you or your chapter treasurer (or president) must do the following:

1. Complete the front and back of the attached Student Chapter Financial Report Form.  Be sure to include a daytime phone number and e-mail address in case we need to communicate with you.  The report must cover from May 1, 2006, through April 30, 2007.  An electronic copy of this form and instructions are also available from the Society’s Web site at http://www.stc.org/stcmembers/chFinances01.asp Go to STC Members, look at Leadership Information, then go to Chapter Finances.   Look at the files under Student Chapter.  The form (an Excel file) contains formulas to ensure correct addition and subtraction.
   

2.      Sign and return the form to the Society office at:

3.      File your report by June 15, 2007.
