e-mail #4 - Week of 9/17 - (due 9/23) - What is symbolic of you . . . ? If you had to put 5 things (items) of symbolic meaning into a bag that represent who you are as a person, what 5 items would they be? More importantly, why would you choose each item - how does each represent you in some way? These things do not have to be specific materials but can be SYMBOLS used to represent something within your personality. Give this some thought . . .

Karen: Hmmm - what symbolizes me as a person? Well prolly I would have to say my car keys, Cubs hat, Reese's Pieces, a circle, and a rainbow. Some of these will need some longer explanations than others. I chose my car keys because I really love to drive! Even though my family lives in Chicago, I still drive home every single weekend and I actually don't mind the drive. Not that my car is that wonderful, don't get me wrong! I drive a Ford Focus and it's small, but it gives me a feeling of freedom I guess just knowing I have those keys with me at all times. The Cubs hat is kind of obvious. I'm a huge cub fan! Some girls go to their proms but I went to a Cubs home game with my dad instead! Reese's pieces are my favorite candy and I usually have a bag somewhere in my room.

The circle and rainbow I guess are kind of hard to understand but I think a circle represents me always coming back home. Even though I leave and go to school, and some day I'll leave and get married, have kids and a job, I know I will always go back home because its home in my heart. I'd say a rainbow represents and symbolizes me because I tend to be a person who cheers other people up when they are down. That may sound like I am bragging or something, but it is true. A lot of people come to me when they feel bad or call me on the phone and after a few minutes I can usually get a smile or even a soft laugh. It makes me feel good too so I like being the good thing after a storm or something. Anyway - these are the things I would put in my bag to symbolize me. I can't wait to hear what all of you choose too!

Doug: Hey Karen. Cards rule! Cubs drool. Ha! JK! Seriously tho I enjoyed your e-mail on the symbols. I also put food on my list. I am always eating something. I think you came across real clear in your symbolism and the choices you made. I already responded to Dave's but I wanted to drop you a line to. Good post, cool items! CYA

Jackie: KAREN!!! What awesome things to put in your bag! I can so totally relate to the rainbow! I wish I had thought of that because I think I am that way too! If you read my e-mail, respond to me. I am curious what you think of my #2! I wish you would have picked something other than the reese's pieces though because it was the only choice you didn't develop with reasoning. I don't mean that to be overly negative, it's just that the others were SO strong that that one gets overshadowed and washed away. Does that make sense? Write me soon!

Dave: Sup, Karen? Did you finish your essay yet? I'm still working on mine. I'm just dropping you a quick note to say how much I enjoyed your post e-mail WEEK 4. I wish my girlfriend would have rather went to see the Cubs vs. prom last year! : - ) oh well hot dogs and a sponge finger would have cost as much as my tux rental anyway. Again cool entry. I like getting all these responses to my writings from you guys - do you? L8r
