Welcome!
This year's organizing committee is happy to welcome you to the 7th C&W Online Conference (has it been seven years!). Much of this year's conference will be like past C&W Online conferences, but there will be many differences, and this page will provide an overview.
What's C&W Online About?
C&W Online has always been a unique conference for the Computers & Writing community and others involved in teaching writing with computers. It provides an opportunity for those who may not be able to attend the onsite conference to make a presentation and engage in discussions with fellow teachers and scholars about technology and writing. For the majority of us who are immersed in the electronic medium, it also offers a familiar setting to engage in discussions which enrich our own understanding and practice.
Best of all, C&W Online has always been an intimate, friendly conference that is free and requires no travel.
What's The Same?
- Asynchronous discussion list
- Real-time presentations/discussions
What's Different?
- New date: The conference will run from February 6th through the 28th (earlier than in past years). All C&WOnline conferences in the future will be held during this earlier timeframe.
- The Symposium: Real-time synchronous presentations will be held on a single day (Feb. 18th 10-3 CST) in a virtual reproduction of a face-to-face conference. See the
Symposium Forum link for more information.
- Poster sessions: In addition to concurrent sessions and a keynote discussion during the Symposium, this conference offers the novel format of an online poster session. The Symposium will be held in an enCore Learning Environment which allows presenters to create their own room where "posters" can be placed. Visitors and presenters can view and discuss these posters together online.
We invite you to present at C&W Online 2006, and most of all we hope you will plan to attend the conference. This year's organizing committee is committed to putting together a conference that is excellent, relevant, and interesting. See you online!
