RhetNet, a cyberjournal for rhetoric and writing

RhetNet is as much a place to play around with the notion of academic publishing as it is an actual publication. (It still *is* an actual publication!) It is an place where we may explore the possibilities for publishing online the kinds of written conversations that occur online.

RhetNet's first principle is that conversations on the net are intellectually valuable on their own terms, and that those terms indicate different means of apprehending and comprehending their worth. The texts in RhetNet may include more-or-less traditionally shaped essays and articles, but the emphasis is on capturing interesting bits of conversation from mailing lists, newsgroups, multiple-user environments, and chat systems.

Traditional roles are being reconceived as well. Reader, Writer, and Editor are positions that may begin to blur. Anyone who is interested in participating may choose to operate from one or more of those positions as need and desire compels.
